I am unsure I am the most empathetic person in the world, so for a moment bear with me. I see people complain about their life and I think “for goodness sake it’s not all so dramatic” or “it’s not that hard” or “just do it already”.
Later they will come to a lightbulb moment that reveals what I knew to be the truth already.
BUT in order to have a revelation, you do not have to be in the throws and flows of it all! Hardship is not the only way to a breakthrough (invention)!
There’s a lot to be gained from solitude, stillness and strategic withdrawal.
There is a time and a place for everything and in order to learn and grow, we might simply need to experience and reflect within ourselves.
It is natural to want answers, or to be simply afraid of change, you body is very clever and is only trying to protect you, so baby steps.
Let’s start by pretending that this is only a practice.
Just like the practice of yoga, often the answers we seek (in ourselves and lives) come through while practising, through the experience of it all.
The Practice of Writing
One foot in front of the other. One word in front of the other.
It all in fact started with morning pages. Initially a gratitude list, a task list, an affirmation list, now 3 pages of reflections and discovery.
Processing ideas, thoughts, false beliefs, just like my best friend was listening.
With kindness and curiosity I began to understand… me!
Just like a mirror these pages reflect my soul.
My thoughts and feelings.
The good and the bad.
The beautiful and ugly.
My dreams and hopes.
The failure and success.
The love and hurt.
All part of the same.
All part of me…
